자연과 휴식을 주제로 꾸준히 작업해온 김자이 작가의 지난 10년 여정을 담은 작품집을 제작했다. 작업의 중심에 있는 ‘휴식’이라는 주제가 무겁지 않고 편안하게 전달되기를 바랐다. 표지는 작가의 참여형 프로젝트인 ‘휴식 교환 프로젝트’에서 영감을 얻었다. 이 프로젝트는 관객과 작가가 서로의 휴식을 나누는 작업으로, 그 개념을 확장해 실제 씨앗을 도록의 표지와 목차에 활용했다. 내지는 ‘휴식’을 출발점으로 삼아 생태적 사유로 확장되는 작가의 과정을 은유적으로 드러내고자 했다. 종이의 질감과 색상을 달리해 층위를 형성함으로써 작업의 시간적 흐름과 변화를 시각적으로 풀어냈으며, 가능하면 친환경 용지를 사용하려 노력했다. 작품 이미지와 작가 노트는 각각 독립된 흐름을 유지하면서도 서로 유기적으로 얽히도록 구성해, 독자가 자연스럽게 그 흐름을 따라가며 자신만의 리듬으로 감상할 수 있다.

We produced a catalog that traces the past ten years of artist Jayi Kim’s practice, which has consistently centered on the themes of nature and rest. At the heart of the work lies the idea of “rest,” which we hoped to convey in a way that feels light and gentle rather than heavy. The cover draws inspiration from the artist’s participatory project Rest Exchange Project, in which the artist and audience share moments of rest with one another. Expanding on this concept, real seeds were incorporated into the catalog’s cover and table of contents. The inner pages were designed to metaphorically reveal how the artist’s practice, beginning with rest, gradually expands into ecological reflections. By varying the textures and colors of the paper, we created layers that visually represent the temporal flow and transformation of the work, while also striving to use eco-friendly materials whenever possible. The images and the artist’s notes follow their own independent rhythms yet are organically intertwined, allowing readers to move through the catalog naturally and engage with it at their own pace.

도록의 판형은 전시와 작품의 큰 스케일을 반영해 크게 제작되었으며 종이는 시간의 흔적과 물성을 강조하는 매트한 질감과 바랜 느낌을 살려 선택되었다. 앞뒤 면지는 공사장의 가설 울타리로 둘러싸인 현재와 과거의 전남도청 및 국립아시아문화전당 풍경을 희미하게 형상화하였다. 이는 과거와 현재가 교차하는 시간적, 공간적 의미를 시각적으로 표현한다. 작품 전경 페이지는 웨이파인딩(wayfinding) 개념을 반영하여 작품 간의 연결성을 강조하여 배치하였고 작가의 작품 페이지 도입은 펼침면 사이에 색지를 삽입해 연결과 재구성을 은유적으로 표현하였다.

The catalogue’s format was designed in a large size to reflect the grand scale of the exhibition and artworks, and the paper was chosen for its matte texture and faded quality, emphasizing traces of time and materiality. The front and back endpapers faintly depict the current and past landscapes of the Jeonnam Provincial Office and National Asian Culture Center(ACC), enclosed by temporary construction fences. This visually expresses the temporal and spatial meaning of the intersection between past and present. The artwork overview pages were arranged to highlight the interconnections between works, reflecting the concept of wayfinding. For the introduction of each artist’s works, colored paper was inserted between spreads, metaphorically suggesting connection and reconfiguration.

전시 도록은 ‘틈’의 상징성을 시각적으로 드러내기 위해 얇은 화이트 크라프트지(50g)로 겉싸개를 제작하였다. 표지의 글자는 은근한 질감 속에 스며들 듯 숨겨져, ‘틈’을 엿보는 듯한 인상을 준다. 작가 노트 역시 동일한 지류와 별색 인쇄를 적용해 짧게 스쳐 지나가는 틈새를 연상시켰다. 각 작가의 작품 부분은 직물과 건축용 특수 판지의 감각을 구현하기 위해 서로 다른 레자크지를 사용하였다. 이러한 지류의 선택은 전시 참여 행위가 지면의 감촉으로 확장되는 간접적 체험으로 이어지도록 하는 의도를 담고 있다.

The exhibition catalog was designed to visually express the symbolism of the “gap” by wrapping it in thin white kraft paper(50g). The cover typography is subtly embedded within the texture, evoking the impression of peeking into a gap. The artist notes also employ the same paper and spot-color printing, recalling the fleeting passage of a narrow opening. For each artist’s section, different varieties of textured Lesseig paper were used to evoke the tactile qualities of fabric and architectural board. Through this selection of papers, the catalog is intended to transform the act of engaging with the exhibition into an indirect, tactile experience on the printed page.

 2025년 국립아시아문화전당(이하 ACC)은 개관 10주년을 맞이하여 접근성 강화 주제전 《우리의 몸에는 타인이 깃든다》를 개최했다. 본 전시는 장애인의 문화예술 창작 및 향유에 대한 접근성을 높이고자 기획된 배리어 프리(Barrier-free) 전시로, ‘배리어 프리’라는 개념을 단순한 보조 도구나 장치로 보는 접근을 넘어 하나의 융복합 콘텐츠 장르로 확장하려는 의도를 담고 있다. In 2025, National Asia Culture Center (ACC) celebrated its 10th anniversary with the thematic exhibition Crossing the Line: Our Bodies, Embedded with Others, dedicated to enhancing accessibility. This barrier-free exhibition was designed to improve access to cultural and artistic creation and enjoyment for people with disabilities, while also seeking to expand the concept of “barrier-free” beyond assistive tools or devices into a broader, interdisciplinary content genre. 《현장 속으로: 기억과 사건》은 국립아시아문화전당(ACC)이 위치한 광주의 장소성과 역사적 맥락을 주제로 한 야외 전시다. 광주읍성에서 전남도청을 거쳐 현재 ACC에 이르기까지의 변화를 ‘장소에 축적된 기억과 사건’이라는 맥락으로 재해석했다. 전시 포스터에도 ‘현장’, ‘기억’, ‘사건’의 모티브를 상징적으로 표현하기 위해 전남도청의 공사 부산물을 주된 그래픽 요소로 활용했다. 전남도청 철거 과정에서 수집한 콘크리트 조각을 촬영 및 재가공해 포스터 전면에 배치하고, 그 밑에 공사장 가설 울타리로 둘러싸인 현재의 풍경을 희미하게 형상화했다. 실크스크린 방식으로 겹겹이 인쇄한 포스터는 장소에 축적된 기억과 사건을 간접적으로 드러낸다.

Reconstructing Sequences is an outdoor exhibition that focuses on the locality and historical context of Gwangju, where the National Asian Culture Center(ACC) is situated. It reinterprets the transformations from Gwangju Eupseong Fortress, through the Jeonnam Provincial Office, to today’s ACC under the theme of “memories and events accumulated in a place.” The exhibition poster symbolically expresses the motifs of “site,” “memory,” and “event” by using construction debris from the Jeonnam Provincial Office as its main graphic element. Concrete fragments collected during the demolition process were photographed, reprocessed, and placed prominently on the poster, beneath which a faint depiction of the current landscape—enclosed by temporary construction fences—can be seen. Printed in overlapping layers using the silkscreen technique, the poster indirectly reveals the memories and events accumulated within the site.

예술극장과 전시관을 연결하는 사이 공간으로서 오픈홀의 가능성과 틈의 다양한 기능과 의미를 조망하고자 한다. 이에 ACC는 2023년 2월, 광주와 전라남북도를 기반으로 작품 활동을 하고 있는 작가들을 대상으로 ‘오픈홀'이라는 장소와 ‘틈'을 주제로 작가 공모를 진행하였으며 이은정, 유지원 작가를 최종 선정하였다.

The ACC carried out an open call under the theme of “teum” in February 2023, through which artists Eunjune Lee and Jiwon Yu were selected to be featured in the exhibition.
